Luxury Myanmar – Mandalay - 10 Days - 9 Nights

DAY 1: YANGON ARRIVAL (D)

Upon arrival to the YANGON international airport and be welcomed by our local tour guide who would then take you to your hotel for some rest after your long flight.  Enjoy a gala dinner at hotel restaurant with its colonial beauty and great cuisine.

Overnight in Yangon.

DAY 2:  YANGON CITY TOUR (B/L/D)

After breakfast, our journey begins with a tour through the colonial-style city center of Yangon. We visit the golden SULE PAYA stupa – built over 2,000 years ago and then visit. We complete the day with a visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA, a gleaming bell dome structure that dominates the city’s skyline. Legends state that the sacred hairs of the Buddha are enshrined here. The Shwedagon is an iconic symbol of the country, a sight not to be missed.

Then, head to KARAWEIK HALL to marvel at the uniquely decorated “hamsa-bird-shaped” floating barge on KANDAWGYI (ROYAL) LAKE and dinner with culture show.

DAY 3:  YANGON – BAGAN (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to airport for the domestic flight to BAGAN. Upon arrival, visit to the NYAUNG U MARKET, the largest market in the Bagan region, to get a glimpse into the local life. We also see how cottage industries like brick making are carried out with traditional methods. We continue to the gilded SHWEZIGON STUPA, purported to contain a holy tooth relic of the Buddha. And then KYANSITHA UMIN, a cave temple, the long dimly lit corridors are decorated with frescoes, some believed painted by Tartar invaders during the Mongol occupation after 1287. Next, we visit GUBYAUKGYI (Wet-Kyi-Inn), this 13th-century ‘cave temple’ has an Indian-style spire like the MahabodhiPaya in Bagan. It is interesting for the fine frescoes of scenes from the Jatakas. Then to HTILOMINLO TEMPLE to learn how Burmese sand paintings are created. The day’s temple tour continues with a visit to the beautifully symmetric and majestic ANANDA TEMPLE with its four standing Buddha images that seem to gaze at the viewer with fixed serenity wherever the viewer stands. Then we visit DHAMAYANGYI TEMPLE, the largest templeof Bagan with the thickest walls and the SULAMANI TEMPLE. Finally, proceed to BUPAYA or SHWESANDAW PAGODA to watch the sunset over the famous Ayeyarwaddy River.

DAY 4  BAGAN (B)

A sunrise flight over Bagan is a unique experience by Balloons.

Depart the hotel before sunrise and transfer to the departure point depending on wind. A thorough safety briefing follows before you take off for a 45mins to 1hr flight. Upon landing, retrieve vehicles will be on hand to serve sparkling wine and refreshments before a transfer back to your hotel. The whole excursion door to door normally last between 2h30 to 3hrs.

Today is on your own leisure.

DAY 5  BAGAN – MANDALAY (B/L/D)

After breakfast, transfer to airport for the domestic flight to MANDALAY. Upon arrival, we proceed to the highlights of Mandalay: the sacred MAHAMUNI PAGODA, housing one of the most significant Buddha images in the country, covered in several tons of gold leaf and the crown prize in long past wars between competing Myanmar kingdoms; the GOLDEN PALACE MONASTERY, the only surviving Royal Palace building in Mandalay, offering a glimpse of the original style and architecture of the Myanmar royals; and lastly, the KUTHODAW PAGODA, a compound housing Buddha’s teachings carved in the sacred Pali script on stone slabs and regarded as the world’s largest book in terms of surface area. We end our day with sunset panoramic views over city skyline on MANDALAY HILL, the highest point of the city.

 DAY 6 : MANDALAY – AMARAPURA – AVA (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we will drive back to Mandalay. We continue to another beautiful ancient capital, AMARAPURA, famous for its textile industries. There, we visit a cottage industry workshop to learn how Myanmar longyis and traditional fabrics are woven. Continue to the, a simple yet remarkable teak structure that spans 1.2km over Taungtaman Lake.

In the afternoon, we go across 15km to AVA (INWA), the ancient capital of Shan and Burmese kingdoms for over four centuries. Crossing the Myit Nge River by ferry, the small roads of Ava are explored by horse-drawn carts. We visit the BAGAYA TEAKMONASTERY, over three hundred years old yet well preserved and still in use by local monks; the NANMYIN WATCHTOWER, the last standing structure of the Ava dynasty palace compound also known as the “Leaning Tower of Ava”; and the MAHA AUNGMYE BONZAN MONASTERY, a 300-year old architectural wonder with graceful archways. Then transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Mandalay.

 DAY 7: MANDALAY – HEHO – INLE LAKE (B/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel.

This morning, enjoy the pool and relax at your Hotel.

Check-out from your room at 12 pm.

Lunch at the local restaurant. After lunch, transfer to the domestic airport for the flight to Heho.

Upon arrival, we will drive to Nyaung Shwe, gateway to Inle Lake and take a boat ride to Hotel.

The rest of time is on your own leisure.

Dinner at restaurant from your Hotel ( we will provide set menu ) .

Stay overnight in Inle Lake.

DAY 8: INLE LAKE  – RED MOUNTAIN ESTATE (B/L/D)

Today, observe the leg-rowing fishermen and see their floating gardens built up from strips of water hyacinth and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. Visit Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery, which houses dozens of Shan Buddha Images. Continue to Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary, which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf. 

Lunch at local restaurant and enjoy the Shan cuisine. 

Explore the local crafts of Inle Lake with a stop at the cheroot factory, where the typical Burmese cigars are made by hand.
We can also visit a local silk weaving ‘factory’ which sits on stilts on the lake and where they still use old style hand looms.

In the evening, we will head to Red Mountain Estate and enjoy the sunset with Burmese western wine. 

Back to Hotel.

DAY 9: INLE LAKE  – INDEIN VILLAGE – YANGON (B/L/D)

Breakfast at hotel,

Continue Inle Lake sightseeing today with a memorable visit to Indein village with its idyllic 17th century pagodas.
Indein is one of the small villages of the Inle Lake located on the western bank of Inle Lake. A Buddha image has enshrined at a whitewashed stupa, which is on the summit of a hill. Below the stupa around the hill are cluster of hundred of ancient stupa most are ruins overgrown with bushes. The pagoda hill is quiet and clam.

One could feel the pleasant cool breeze with the sweet ring of the bell hanging at the umbrella of the stupa. Mesmerizing view from the pagoda hill releases the fatigue and refreshes everybody who ascends to the peak. This mysterious place is at the end of the marvelous Indein creek, which connected with Inle Lake just after the Phaund Daw Oo pagoda. The creek is narrow with many twist and turns. Since the both side are paddy fields you can see the farmer ploughing and harrowing by water buffaloes.

After lunch, transfer to airport for the domestic flight to YANGON. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and take your relax time.

DAY 10: YANGON DEPARTURE (B)

Any fantastic trip will come to an end, but the memories will remain in your heart forever. Our driver will pick you up at the hotel then take you to the airport for boarding the flight back and your sweet trip will fly home with you. See you next time!
